| In a Global Family of 500 Schools |

The educational model implemented in STERNIK facilities is followed in thirty eight countries around the world. There are now the total of 500 schools promoting that style of education. „Thanks to the cooperation between parents and the school, our girls can reach the maximum of their potential,” says Marie Therese Gibson, headmistress of Tangara school for girls in Sydney, Australia. “They grow up to be mature, young women who exert a beneficial influence on those around them, and thus on the society at large.” „We have embraced this model for forty years now, which gives us a perspective from which to assess its effects,” says Josep Maria Barnils, President of the European Association for Single-Sex Education (EASSE) and co-founder of Institució Familiar d’Educació. “It is with great delight that I now look at our alumni, today already grown-up people, who have set up strong, happy families, and are appreciated by their colleagues at work as good professionals and good people. Naturally, parents, with the help of teachers, want to shape their children so that they are successful adults. They often say, however, that even a Nobel Prize won by their daughter or son would not make them happy if they were not good wives or husbands.” Marie Therese Gibson: „We started in 1982 with as few as twelve families and seventeen girl pupils. It was definitely worth it. Today, we have seven hundred girls from more than four hundred families. Our alumni enroll their children in our schools, and former students come back as teachers. We are aware we are holding a priceless treasure in our hands, in a world engulfed by moral chaos, with so many families suffering from divorce and broken relationships. We are not perfect, and yet families find it easier in our schools to maintain unity with the many friendships and the support they provide. And the parents are equipped with tools to help them fulfill their duties as the first educators of their children.” |
